Training Options

Free training is available via our YouTube channel.

Our group training sessions are perfect for learning more and asking questions. Introduction course covers all the basics including design, content management, galleries, enquiry forms, shopping carts, domain names, and how to go live. Our Search Engine Optimisation course is great for learning how to get your website higher on Google.

New Support Ticketing System

We have introduced a new support ticketing system. Using the ticketing system is the fastest way to get support. It's really easy to use, just email support@websitebuilder.co.nz telling us what you want to know, and which ever support person is free will respond to you.

Some tips on using our support desk for faster service: 

  • Send all support/accounts/sales/quotes/etc requests to support@websitebuilder.co.nz
  • Please do not address your emails to more than one email address. If this happens your email will be treated as spam/low priority. If you want the fastest email support, please email only to support@websitebuilder.co.nz
  • Please only send support emails to individual members of staff if your request is personal and low priority. 
  • Try to provide as much information as you can when requesting support, e.g. what URL or what email address a problem relates to. If there is a general fault, we work that out very quickly, when all phones start ringing at once. So most bugs are normally specific to a particular website or email address.
  • If your request is an emergency, ie relating to an outage or system critical fault, then please call us. Otherwise, please use our email support and one of our staff can call you back if you prefer. We only have a few staff, and often we get overloaded.
  • Screenshot Images often help us undertand what you mean, if you have images to send, please do not copy and paste them into your email, please send them as attachments in JPG or PNG format.

 

 

 

 

.co Domains and International Domains

You can now purchase .co domain names for just US$30 per year. We have heard that Google is treating these suffixes the same way they do .biz and .com, and are not treating them as Columbian.

Do you want to purchase international domains a little cheaper? Now you can for just US$15 with our affiliate OpenSRS.

Search and register an International domain from around US$15 per year.

Once you have purchased one of those domains, you will still need to login and change the nameservers or a-record to ours and also setup the domain name against your webspace in the CMS using the "nameserver setup" method.

Content Editor Upgrades

We now have a selection of content editors to choose from, these are selectable when ever you see the word style toolbar.

  • TinyMCE - This is the default. Many people experience difficulties when the paste content in. Please use the paste plain text option when pasting.
  • TinyMCE Test - This is the next version of TinyMCE about to go live. If you are interested, check out the new text formating features. Next month we will make this option live.
  • Innova - This alternative editor has now had the image wizard integrated. It's a possible contender for being the new default editor. We would welcome your feedback.
  • CKEditor - This editor is "as is" from the makers, we have not integrated any features.
  • OpenWYSIWYG - This editor was a precursor to our V4 editor, not compatible with all browsers.
  • V4 - This was the original editor developed by Reuben. It's pretty robust, but generates some invalid HTML that the replacement editors don't like. Some users like to use if for older content.
  • HTML/Syntax Highligher - For those advanced users!

Are you Linked In? If not, why not. This social network of professional people, tradespeople and business owners is a great place to network and find new customers, new suppliers and new staff. It requires 2 people to accept a connection, so connections typically indicate some form of mutual endorsement. Join relevant industry groups, and share blogs or interesting snippets of news. You can write recommendations for wonderful businesses like ours, or review others recommendations. I would love to have some more recomendations if you can find the time.

Search Engine Optimisation Tip of the Month

Renew your domain names for several years in advance to gain a slightly higher position across all your key phrases. It's great for moving from position 4 to position 3, and sometimes that can make all the difference

Using an old domain name that has been active and live for several years also gives you a head start over customers with younger domains.

The domain name registry information is believed to account for about 7% of Googles ranking algorithm.

  • Ask your friends to include your login email address on the form when they signup
  • Create a trial for your friends, using their email address, but put your login email in the referred by area.

  • Add a page, on the right under tooltips, see "Website Creation Affiliate Link"
