New Features

New Look CMS

All users have been migrated to the new look CMS. Your pages content is located in the left menu, all other options from the old left menu are now in a new right aligned top menu. In most cases the menu is structured in a similar way, however some sections have been combined. We hope you find the new layout easier to use.

Animated Banners with Numbered Slide Selection

New animated slide banner option available with numbered slide selection. Similar to our home page. In the design area of the CMS, you can upload several banners to create an animation. There are options to control the style and speed of the animation. Have fun!

Training Options

Our training videos to help you setup your website, or shopping cart, or payment options. Please note these videos show the old look and feel CMS and we are slowely upgrading the videos.

Pinterest Social Pin Board

Here is a cool little tool you may or may not already know about. Its called Pinterest. basically is a huge scrapbook/pin-board. which allows you to surf the net finding really cool stuff and then using a bookmark you can pin it to your themed pin-board, and also leave a comment regarding the image of interest. pretty soon your pin board is littered with ideas and concepts of interest.
But the cool thing is there is a Facebook app. that is created during the sign up process. every time you add something to your pin-board there is a notification on Facebook. for comments and likes. Social networking just got a whole lot more interesting!

Search Engine Optimisation Tip of the Month

The art of using Key Phrases.

Select your key phrase. (usually this is a phrase that you believe your clients will search for in a search engine, It also must be relevant to the page in question). eg "flowers grey lynn"
Place you Key Phrase in the page heading, Preferably start with it for long headings. "Flowers Grey Lynn, for Valentines Day"
Your key Phrase should be in the first paragraph of the page. Don't be afraid to repeat the "words" in your key phrase within the paragraph, even if it sounds a little odd. i.e "Buy your valentine flowers from Grey Lynn florist. Grey Lynn Flowers this February 14th".
Your Meta Title should also start with your Key Phrase. "Flowers Grey Lynn, Auckland"
Your page file name should also be you key phrase. (there is a strict format to file names. no special characters or spaces. eg. flowers-grey-lynn.html (html being the document type)
Also consider linking to your page from your homepages content, using the key phrase as the link.
Then repeat the process on another page for something different like "Florist Grey Lynn", which may have alot of similar content, but should be rewritten to avoid duplicate sentences, and all references to flowers might be changed to florist.

Design Tips - Tiled Background Images

Thanks to Andrew for creating some new tiled background images. These can be found in the Clip Art and Background folder of the image browser.

The beauty of using background tiles means that you can enhance the visual appearance of your website. Secondly they tile which means they will evenly cover the entire screen, which is great for viewers that have large monitors and creates a complete visual presence.

In Laymen's terms i can explain it as follows.

Imagine your website is a picture in a frame on you living room wall. The picture frame is always the same size however the wall size may vary. The smaller the wall the more the picture frame is the focus of attention the larger the wall the opposite occurs. Now if you remove the frame from around the picture and apply a textured wallpaper with complementary colours that match the picture the entire wall. The wall becomes the frame. thus the entire visible area becomes part of the picture no matter what size the wall is.

Please feel free to experiment with our stock tiled background images from the content editor to enhance your websites look.
